The Boris Games

This very innovative game was developed for end users to learning Makaton – a key work signing system. The gameplay involved players to sign instructions for the superhero to follow on his space ship.

This was developed as part of an SBRI grant. It was nominated at BAFTA Games, receipt of two TIGA awards and an innovation runner up at the Japan Price.

We now are working on developing this further for regular deaf sign language.

Summary

The original Boris Games used MS Kinect technology for the detection of the motion. Updating developments will employ alternative webcam technolgy in due course.

The game play involves users directing Boris with key Makaton signs dealing with personal hygiene, eating and drinking, and work place keywords.
